Composer Paul Honey has once again scored new music for the acclaimed BBC Two history series A House Through Time, returning for its sixth series as the programme travels to Edinburgh.
Presented by historian David Olusoga, the latest 4x60' series explores the lives of the people who lived in a house on Edinburgh’s Calton Hill, tracing its story from the 18th century through to the present day. The series uncovers an extraordinary succession of residents, including a clergyman arrested for helping French prisoners escape Edinburgh Castle, a celebrated sculptor, a bagpipe maker and a notorious brothel keeper.
Paul has been closely associated with A House Through Time since its first series, having scored the programme across its previous outings for Twenty Twenty Television. His music provides an emotional thread through the programme's combination of meticulous historical research and intimate human stories.
The Edinburgh series premiered on BBC Two on 13 August 2026, with the four-part series concluding in September.
With each series revealing how the lives of ordinary residents can illuminate much wider social and historical changes, A House Through Time has become a distinctive BBC history format. The latest Edinburgh setting continues that tradition, with Paul's score accompanying stories spanning social change, scandal, war, poverty and resilience.
