VIDEO: Raphaelle Thibaut to encounter Fantastic Beasts

"Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History" comes to BBC One

BBC One has announced a magical new commission, Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History, scored by The Composerworks' Raphaelle Thibaut.

Produced in partnership with Warner Bros. and London’s Natural History Museum and presented by Stephen Fry, the documentary will explore the origins and stories of mythical creatures and the fantastical beasts from J.K. Rowling’s stories and explore their history and connections with animals roaming the planet today.

Footage from the BBC Natural History Unit alongside spellbinding scenes from the Fantastic Beasts films will show how closely real world animals, mythological creatures and wizarding world beasts are intertwined.

Raphaelle, whose other recent commissions include the Emmy-winning James Cameron series Secrets of The Whales (Disney+), will be scoring title and related music throughout the programme.

Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History is a 1 x 60’ for BBC One. It was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, BBC Director of Content. It is made by the BBC Studios Natural History Unit and Warner Bros Entertainment. The Executive Producer for the BBC is Mike Gunton and the producer is Victoria Bobin.

Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History will air on BBC One at 7pm on Sunday, Feb. 27.
