The Composerworks Expands Services to Support Composers in Deal Negotiations and Streamline Score Production
First UK agency to launch dedicated contract management and score production services for all composers
The Composerworks has launched two new services designed to provide composers with comprehensive production support: Composer Contract Management and Score Production Management. For the first time, these services will be offered to all composers, not only those represented by the agency.
As the first agency of its kind to publicly offer this support, The Composerworks helps composers stay focused on creating music while experienced agents handle complex negotiations and, if required, all aspects of live recording administration.
Led by agent Steve Berman (pictured), a former commercial lawyer who founded the agency in 2012, the contract management service provides end-to-end business support across all media formats, including negotiation and contract advice, invoicing on behalf of composers, contract amendments if required during a project, and assistance with accurate music registration.
The new score production management service supports all live aspects of a project with a specialist team handling every production detail. From booking studios, engineers, mixers, and orchestras to managing all payments to third parties on a composer’s behalf, The Composerworks ensures sessions run smoothly and projects are delivered on time and on budget.
“We’ve launched these services because I’ve seen an increasing need for them,” says Steve Berman. “Composers outside our roster have come in greater numbers over the years asking for contract assistance. So we see an opportunity to offer something beyond doing a deal and contract, by supporting the composer throughout their project. We’ve now expanded our core team with a dedicated project manager to help.” The new services are available for composers worldwide working in film, TV, animation, and games, whether experienced professionals seeking help with complex negotiations or emerging voices looking for early-career guidance.
The launch of these services comes at a time when production budgets are under pressure, AI is creating new copyright questions, and early-career composers in particular face increasing competition. As the first UK agency to publicly offer dedicated contract and score management to the wider composer community, The Composerworks now provides end-to-end professional support for the business side of composing.
