John Meirion Rea to score forthcoming strike drama
Powerful new drama comes to S4C
S4C has announced an ambitious new drama, Friction Dynamics (Y Streic Fawr), inspired by one of Wales' most significant industrial disputes.
Set against the backdrop of a community divided by the closure of heavy industry, 3-part Friction Dynamics explores the personal cost of strikes, family tensions and the resilience of those whose lives were shaped by the changing fortunes of Welsh manufacturing.
It will be scored by acclaimed composer John Meirion Rea (pictured). John has built a reputation for writing evocative, emotionally driven scores that complement character-led storytelling.
The project also reflects S4C's continued commitment to producing distinctive Welsh stories with international appeal. The broadcaster has increasingly invested in high-end scripted drama that celebrates Welsh history, culture and communities while reaching audiences well beyond Wales.
The drama will air later this year.
