Soundology Receives Ivors Nomination

"For Sama" nominated for Ivor Novello Award for Best Original Film Score

Composer Nainita Desai has been nominated for a 2020 Ivor Novello Award.

She is nominated in the Best Original Film Score category for her powerful score for For Sama.

The Syrian war film has racked up 40 awards and 60 nominations since its world premiere in March last year. They include a Best Documentary win at both the 2020 BAFTA's and Cannes Film Festival and an Oscar nomination. It is also the most nominated documentary in BAFTA history.

Nainita was also nominated this year for a Best Original Music British Independent Film Award for For Sama and won the International Film Music Critics Awards Breakthrough Composer of 2019.

Her other notable 2020 commissions include:

- Sundance Audience Award winning feature documentary The Reason I Jump;

- Forthcoming series Bad Boy Billionaires (Netflix);

- 6-part Samuel L Jackson-fronted epic Enslaved: The Slave Trade As Told From The Ocean Floor to be broadcast in 2021; and

- Forthcoming Netflix feature doc American Murder (Exec: James Marsh (The Theory of Everything)).

Nainita's most recent drama is Unprecedented for BBC Four, featuring Sue Johnston, Gemma Arterton and James Norton.

This year’s Ivor Awards' winners will be announced on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio from 11am on the Matt Wilkinson Show on Wednesday 2 September.
