Composer boards Samuel L. Jackson-fronted epic

Nainita Desai to score major six-part slavery series

The Composerworks' Nainita Desai has scored Samuel L. Jackson's forthcoming series Enslaved: The Lost History of the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

The series has already been sold into 130 territories. It will retrace through underwater archeology the sea voyage that brought millions of Africans to a life of slavery in the West.

Samuel L. Jackson is a licensed diver and social rights activist. He says: “For me, this is much more than a TV series... Enslaved is an attempt to give a voice to the millions whose voices were silenced.”

Emmy-winning Simcha Jacobovici directs.

Jacobovici, who worked with James Cameron on Atlantis Rising, says he aims to tell “a global story of suffering and resistance, of oppression and overcoming, through the adventure of finding and marking sunken slave ships.”

Enslaved is a 6x52 series for CBC Canada. It is produced by Felix Golubev and Ric Bienstock and executive produced by Samuel L. Jackson, LaTanya Jackson, Eli Selden, Rob Lee, Simcha Jacobovici and Yaron Niski. Fremantle will be distributing the series internationally.

The series broadcasts on September 14th 2020 on Epix in the US.
